Paul Boivin (L) visits Ty and Jeanna Collins at their home on Lake Burton.

At the last meeting of the JCF Mythological RoundTable® Group of Sarasota on November 19, MRT leader Paul Boivin shared a very special experience he had while traveling with his wife, Kathy, on their fall vacation.

This is a big year for our “Southeast sister,” the JCF Mythological RoundTable® Group of Northeast Georgia, for it marks the 20th anniversary of its founding by MRT Leader Ty Collins with his wife, Jeanna. While Paul couldn’t make it to the formal anniversary celebration in Clarkesville, GA, he realized he and Kathy would be passing through the area just two weeks before the event.

Paul and Ty connected with a little help from Martin Weyers, director of the MRT Program. During their drive to North Carolina on Nov. 8, Paul and Kathy stopped to enjoy a wonderful lunch with the Collinses at their beautiful lakefront property at Lake Burton, Georgia. As a self-described “Joseph Campbell junkie,” it was a profound experience for Paul to meet and converse with people who had actually met Campbell during his lifetime. The insights that Ty and Jeanna imparted from leading an MRT for two decades will no doubt enrich our own fledgling MRT as we continue to grow.

From all of us at the JCF Mythological RoundTable® Group of Sarasota, we send our Southeast sister many felicitations on their 20-year anniversary, and best wishes to the new leaders for many mythological years ahead!
